Game Time This week MAY CHANGE to early game with arrival at 7:00am. The game is in OAKLAND. Refer to game schedule that was handed out. Friday's posting will include confirmation of game time as well as address for the game.

Game Attire: Uniforms are still being worked on. Please bring all usual uniform game attire (skirt, hair up, black or white shoes, etc) and in substitution of game tops wear a white shirt. A shirt that was worn for certification is perfect. This means white SV certification shirts are acceptable for this attire.

Practice was productive and Friday's will be even more productive. Please practice your counts at home as there are a lot of changes occurring this week. Next week will be a lot of reviewing. PRACTICES ARE MANDATORY. Failure to attend a practice the week of competition may result in sitting out. This is in fairness to the entire team.

Lateness: Please do remember that phone calls are highly appreciative and they do give girls a little cushion on being a little late, but it does not remove the fact that the girls are late. An example of a valid excuse would be parent's unable to get off late or commute issues. Part of this helps in teaching the girls the importance of being on time later in life.

VOLUNTEERS for competition: The league is reaching out to get 4 volunteers from 11am-6pm at the competition. This is something that I will refer you out so you can help out. This will count for volunteer hours for those of you in need of something to volunteer for. Please let me know so I can pass you to the connections.

VOLUNTEERS FOR OUR TEAM FOR COMPETITION: I am reaching out for anyone who would like to help in arranging competition goodies. If you are interesting in helping out, or coordinating food for the girls for competition day please start the conversations with Terri. I LOVED what was done for our girls last competition and I love the parent support.

Great practice today Rocket Jrs! We were able to get a ton done! If we continue this strong, the routine will be complete by end of practice Friday! It is in our reach! Keep practicing and keep up the good work!

Circle up was very light today. 

MAIN THING IS PRACTICE CHANGE: THIS WEEK WE WILL BE PRACTICING WEDNESDAY AND FRIDAY. NO THURSDAY PRACTICE. 

Both practices will be at Ortega. This is due to building availability. 

Competition will be October 5th, thus we will not be going to the scheduled football game. 

BUYOUTS, I have most of them, but I need all of them. I will be checking Wednesday and girls will be sitting out, unless other arrangements have been discussed with me.

BRING GAME TOPS TO GAME TOMORROW. YOU WILL BE TURNING THEM IN SO THEY CAN GET EMBROIDERED WITH THE ROCKET'S NAME ON THEM. THIS MEANS BRING AN EXTRA SHIRT TO CHANGE INTO. 
IT MAY RAIN SO MAKE SURE YOU BRING ROCKET WARM UPS TO WEAR FOR POOR WEATHER. 

TEXT MESSAGE CHAIN: 
I mentioned at practice about the possibility of a text message chain. This would mainly be a one way communication where I would send out a mass text message to those who want to be involved. I would ask that no one responds to these group messages as then it would be a mass response. If you need further clarification on the no response request feel free to ask. These texts would be used when there are reminders or important updates. An example  of a text chain would be used if there's a practice change location or competition time updates. I will decide to do this based off of response that I receive interest wise.

**Game tomorrow reminder! I do want to let everyone know that I will not be present at the game. The rest of our coaching staff will be present and I do respect that things will move smoothly. Keep in mind that we are a team all together, cheerleaders, parents, coaches alike, and we all work together to make this team successful!

Yesterday I had a board meeting to attend and was not at the circle up so I'm going to go over a couple of VERY IMPORTANT things first, and then some not so important things.

SATURDAY I NEED GAME TOPS AFTER THE GAME. This means, if you are not attending the game (I believe I have only heard from one parent about this) then I will NEED your game top prior to the game. We are embroidering them to use for our competition uniforms. I will discuss uniforms a bit further in detail at a parent meeting, but for now I just need cooperation with collecting all game tops. THOSE GAME TOPS NOT COLLECTED WILL NOT BE EMBROIDERED. 
COMPETITION IS OCTOBER 5TH AND THAT MEANS WE HAVE A SHORT TURN AROUND. I am a very heavy believer about fixing problems rather than dwelling over them so at this time we are working to get the uniforms comp ready with what we have. I also request those who have body liners from last year to please try them on, make sure they fit, and let me know.

PRACTICES FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEK (I am going to try to put together a calendar so it's nicely laid out, I have just had my hands tied with school, work, and everything else cheer has been bringing. I promise I am working hard to keep things running smoothly) Schedule starting from this Friday.

I also want to note that we are fortunate enough practicing indoor or to at least have the indoor facility available to us for all practices. I know this may seem like an inconvenience, but many Pop Warner organizations actually do not get set locations and are still practicing outside for this cold weather.
**Also note that Invitational Competition is Quickly upon us. The week of September 30th is MANDATORY To compete unless you have previously discussed with me.
**I advise using your phone to take a picture of the practice schedule above so you know where the practices are on each date. I would LOVE to keep it simply at one location, but I think alternating is a great way for us to take advantage of the features both parks have to offer as well as the building availability does play a significant role in where we will be.

Side note!

BUY OUT AND FUNDRAISER: Thank you parents who have completed either the fundraiser or the buy out. We are still waiting on a few, and I have talked with some parents. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE reach out to me early so that I will work with you. As it gets later in the season, circumstances become not so understandable. MAKE THAT CONVERSATION HAPPEN so that we are aware immediately.

COMPETITION TEAMS: After Jamboree, the list of what teams in our division has been sent out. Of the 19 jamboree teams, we have 7 in our division. I am confident that our girls are going to perform successful amongst these teams, but it will definitely keep us on our toes. It is important that we keep the girls focused and practicing at home. They have been doing a great job of this, so keep up the good work.

PARENT MEETING: The meeting that I have been talking about will tentatively be scheduled for October 9th. I am still trying to figure out what time I want it to be, I will do my best to make it convenient for the parents. The Wednesday following competition. It will be conducted by me as I have some things to discuss moving forward with the season. Nationals will approach us very quickly and I want to make sure that parents are aware of everything. It is also very important to me to have a midpoint check point. I feel we have been doing a great job this season as a whole Jr. Pee Wee team.

Today you guys went out there and did amazing. Your Rocket's staff is very proud of you! 

Thank you to all the parents for helping make today a very smooth completion to our long weekend! I could not express my gratitude for everyone's hard work.

Monday: Practice is confirmed to be at FAIR OAKS PARK.  We will be practicing INDOORS, but I still require all girls bring sweats. They do not necessarily have to be your SV sweats, but I do recommend those.

As I mentioned earlier, girls performed very well this weekend. I appreciate having all the girls prepared and with snacks. We still have plenty to work on. Practices are still and always will be mandatory. We do not want to start slipping now! We have our work cut out for us and the girls are officially ready to move int PHASE 2!! This means in the next upcoming weeks they will be learning the rest of their routine. GIRLS NOT PRESENT WITHOUT EXCUSED ABSENCES WILL NOT BE ASSIGNED A SPOT UNTIL THEY ARE AT PRACTICE. Please note I am saying NOT EXCUSED practices. If your child is going to miss practice, and it is for a legitimate reason there spot will be safe. I do this in fairness to those girls who are always present and for those parents who do contact me well in advance.

BUYOUTS: BUY OUTS ARE PAST DUE. PLEASE BRING A CHECK OR CASH TO THE FIELD ON MONDAY. GIRLS WHO ARE NOT UP TO DATE ON BALANCES WILL BE SITTING OUT. Again, this is in fairness. It is not part of mine nor any one on my staff to track people down, but we will if we have to. If you are unsure about your buyout or any other balances PLEASE bring it up to us so we can get things handled properly.

WE LOVE SEEING OUR PARENTS HAVE SPIRIT IN THE STANDS. After all, our job is to help the crowd CHEER for the team! I have provided a small link with some ideas for making noise makers. I will later get a full list of what we can and cannot have. Homemade noise makers are usually ok, but items such as blow horns are NOT ok. BUYOUTS AND FUNDRAISER: If you are purchasing tickets or you were able to sell tickets, the due date is TODAY, THURSDAY. You need to email me right away so I can let them know that we have some orders. If not, your buyout is due TOMORROW FRIDAY. Children WILL sit out starting MONDAY if the payment is not received. Contact me IMMEDIATELY if there is a problem with this. Late contact WILL result in your child sitting out. Failure to attend practice to avoid your child sitting out WILL result in double earned demerits for missing practice. I repeat. Failure to attend practice due to not wanting them to sit out will result in DOUBLE earned demerits per missed practice. I 100% agree that it is not something the child should sit out for, but it IS THE PARENTS JOB TO contact me PRIOR to the due date.

Hey y'all,

A bit later than usual, but here is the reminders from yesterday.

Practice Reminder: Monday, Wednesday, Friday. Attendance is mandatory in order to compete on Sunday. Every practice is just as important.

Sports Bras: Under game tops, girls are highly encouraged to wear a black Or RED sports bra. NO white will be allowed. Tank tops will not pass. The girls need to be uniformed when performing at competitions.

Scholastic: Check out the Sunnyvalepopwarner.com website. In the bottom left corner it shows those who were recognized for Scholastics last year. Congrats to all those that were eligible! Sunnyvale takes a huge pride in grades and academic work. Hard work on the field is nothing if you are ineligible, so make sure you take the time needed for homework!

Competition Time for Sunday: 6am Sharp. DO NOT SHOW UP LATE. We have check in at 7am so this is a quick turn around. Need to be full dressed with:
-Game top on
-Skirt on
-Spankies/briefs on
-SHORT white SOCKS on
-Competition Shoes
-Hair in HIGH pony tail or bun (we will change hair for future competitions)
-Warm ups ON

If parents are interested in doing a breakfast again, that would be AWESOME, but if not girls are expected to be fed. We cannot have the same incident as last week with girls not eating before games. Competition and performances are as stressful as is. If the child does not want to eat before the game, please tell me as I will make them do some form of punishment. Food is a necessity. Even if it is just half of a sandwich.

Saturday is our FIRST home game. Come out and wear your RED BLACK AND WHITE :) The bigger crowd, the better. The time will be released tomorrow. I have emailed the coach for the football team, and hopefully I will get a schedule if he has one.

REMINDER

A few REMINDERS for this week:

As noted in previous postings, PRACTICE TONIGHT (MONDAY), WEDNESDAY AND FRIDAY. IT WILL BE AT ORTEGA PARK IN SUNNYVALE. 

*FAILURE TO ATTEND ANY PRACTICES THIS WEEK WILL RESULT IN NOT PERFORMING ON SUNDAY AT JAMBOREE COMPETITION. 

This is crunch time. We have only 3 practices left until performance. If your child is sick, they MUST be at practice to see changes. This is in the contract that parents AND cheerleaders signed at the beginning of the season. It is not fair to any of the girls if someone misses practice and does not know the routine. 

PRACTICE IS AT ORTEGA. DO NOT DROP YOUR KID AT FAIR OAKS. PLAN ENOUGH TIME TO GET THERE ON TIME. All I ask is that you communicate with me if there is any problem. And communication MUST occur at least 2 hours prior. To these girls, practice is like a "job." In order for me to plan accordingly for practice... I NEED TO KNOW. 

I do want to say thank you to the girls that are always there and are always on time. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. It is not time to start slacking! :) 

BUYOUT AND FUNDRAISER. Due date is THIS THURSDAY. We will not be practicing on Thursday, so Wednesday is OUR due date. If you need the extension until Thursday, YOU will be responsible for letting me know AHEAD of time. YOU will also need to drop it off at Fair Oaks or at the location it needs to be on Thursday. By letting me know in advance, we can help make plans. 

60 dollars is the Buyout if you are not selling the 4 tickets. THIS HAS BEEN EXTENDED A WHOLE MONTH SO THERE SHOULD BE NO EXCUSES FOR NOT MEETING THIS DEADLINE. I want to say it is already last minute if you are going to tell me now if you are unable to pay by this deadline. In other words, I better get an e-mail in the next couple hours to know the circumstances. 

Including the buyout, starting at next Monday's practice, cheerleaders WILL be sitting out until things are collected. I hate to get to this point, but it is way passed all the deadlines to be collecting funds. If you are unsure about your balances and what not I highly suggest contacting Team Mom Terri to find out.

After Game Review

Phew! It was extremely warm out there today. Great job with everyone keeping the spirits up throughout the whole game. I'm very impressed with the progress the girls are making every day. Note I say progress because throughout this season they should be constantly striving for more. Teams go year long and still have things to improve on, so best believe we will still be working for more. 

Couple things I want to note. Starting NEXT game, girls will only be allowed to wear black or the same color red sports bras with their tops. In other words, no more tank tops and no more white showing. This has to do with uniformity within the team and appearance. Pop Warner does regulate that everyone is uniformed. 

Half time Performance: Looked really good today girls. We still have a TON of work to be ready for competition next week, but we are at a good point for right now. Keeping practicing. I encourage cheerleaders to perform for their parents so they can help and see the growth. 

Practice from here on is MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, FRIDAY. It will be at Ortega Park unless otherwise noted. Please keep posted on the blog. Again, I do this on my own time for everyone to use as a resource. My schedule is very busy and I appreciate that y'all take a time to look it over. 

GIRLS BE READY TO PUSH IT THIS WEEK. PERFORMANCE SUNDAY. ANY PRACTICES MISSED THIS WEEK MEANS NO PERFORMING. THIS IS OUTLINED IN THE CONTRACT THAT WAS SIGNED AT THE BEGINNING OF THE SEASON. I AM VERY TOUGH WHEN IT COMES TO COMPETITION WEEKS. NOT HAVING A RIDE IS NOT A VALID EXCUSE TO MISS PRACTICE. CONTACT ME EARLY IF THERE IS A PROBLEM. 

There will be a Game Next Saturday and Jamboree Cheer Performance SUNDAY. Times will come later during the week. At certification I was not given the full schedule, so I am working to obtain it. As soon as I have all the information you will too.

Buyout or Fundraiser is MANDATORY. They have given an extension until September 13th to complete this fundraiser. That is less than 9 days from today. If you plan on participating you should start now. This also means that Buyout will be due on SEPTEMBER 13TH AS WELL. FAILURE TO PAY BUYOUT OR PARTICIPATE IN FUNDRAISER WILL RESULT IN YOUR DAUGHTER SITTING OUT AND NOT COMPETING IN THE JAMBOREE COMPETITION. It is already BEYOND pass the due date which was originally set for August 19th. Please do not make me have your child sit out, because I will. You must contact me immediately if you have questions regarding this.

We have a cheerleader near Downtown San Jose that needs assistance with carpooling to practice. Team Mom Terri will also be e-mailing out in regards to this matter. Please come together and help us arrange something.

Circle Up Tuesday, September 3rd

I want to start with thanking everyone for making the first game and certification a very smooth process. We worked through what we needed to and got things done. Please make sure you are checking THIS BLOG for the most updated times and information on the team. Each cheerleader and parent is responsible for being updated on this information. I do want to note that I go out of my way and strive very hard to make communication as effective as possible. I use the tools and insights to make the decisions I find best for the team. Please keep that in mind as we proceed forward with this season. 

Topics Covered:

Buyout: If you have not and do not plan on doing the Raider Fundraiser, the buyout is $60 this is not optional. These funds go directly to putting safe equipment on the field for your kids. New due date is September 13th, since the fundraiser was extended

Fundraiser Extension: Due to many questions about wanting to buy more tickets, the Raider's organization has allowed us to extend our due date to September 13th. If you plan on participating, I highly suggest getting started now and not waiting until the last minute. This is the absolute last date to turn in orders. The sooner the better. This is the best way to avoid the buyout. Get out of the comfort zone and asking around about people wanting tickets. I know these may not be the easiest to sell, but if you don't ask around, the answer will be 100% no. If you at least ask, sometimes people like to still donate money, and that can go to your buyout for your child. 

Practices: We will be doing ALL practices this week at Fair Oaks, due to building permits. Practices will be Thursday and Friday. 

Game Saturday: Game this week will be Saturday at Gilroy. Arrival time will be 10am sharp. Game starts at Noon for parents if they want to come later, girls NEEd to be there early in order to check in. If they do not get checked in on time, they will not be allowed to cheer at the game. If getting a ride there is a problem, I need to be contacted AT LEAST 24 hours in advance to allow for me to reach out and try to find a ride. Please remember, it is not my job to get the kids to the events. It is my job to communicate the information of where and when to be there. 

Girls will wear just as last game. Game tops, Skirts, Spankies/briefs, low cut socks, white or black low cut shoes, hair in high pony tail or bun. In there bags they MUST have there warm ups and sweats (black ones for this year). Failure to have any of these requirements will result in discipline actions. 

JAMBOREE: SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 15TH AT PIONEER HIGH SCHOOL. 

PLAN FOR EARLY ARRIVAL AROUND 7AM. THE TIME WILL BE POSTED AND EMAIL OUT. PLEASE REFER TO THIS BLOG AND EMAILS AS OPPOSED TO THE SUNNYVALE WEBSITE. 

This blog is designed for the purpose of keeping everything transparent and up to date. I have control over making sure this is updated as opposed to a third party. It should be your number one resource for meeting times and specific events.

PRACTICE CHANGE FROM ORTEGA TO FAIR OAKS PARK FOR TUESDAY SEPTEMBER 2ND. 

Hello All,

Important change in practice tomorrow! We will be practicing at FAIR OAKS again tomorrow, Tuesday September 2nd. This means we will not be at Ortega until Friday. The league will be having a meeting for cheerleader parents at 8pm at the Baseball field. This is just to prepare everyone for the remainder of the season. Shortly (Friday) we will be moving to an indoor facility and that means all teams will be at different locations. I encourage parents to attend as it is scheduled to be just a bit earlier than the girls will be released. 

Please Reply with an e-mail as simple as "got it" to make sure you are aware of the change. Parents that do not reply, will be receive a call from me tomorrow about the change of practice location and meeting. This is just to ensure that all the girls get taken to the right location for practice.
